The School of Law at the University of Jordan held a meeting with the President of the Jordan Bar Association (JBA), Attorney Yahya Abu Aboud, to discuss contemporary perceptions of the legal profession and its perspective and reality with the school's students. The dean of the School of Law Prof. Dr. “Mohammad Amin" Al-Naser, stated that the meeting with the President of the JBA with the students aims to introduce them to the practical side of the law emphasizing the importance of the profession's ethics and code of conduct.
Att. Abu Aboud introduced the history and development of the legal profession including the establishment of the Jordan Bar Association and the role that the JBA plays nationally, professionally, and legally. Furthermore, Att. Abu Aboud pointed out the lawyer's rights, duties, and privileges and the characteristics and traits of a law practitioner. He also stressed on the importance of the profession's independence and its role in reinforcing judicial independence.
The meeting was followed by an extensive discussion between the school's professors, the students, and the President of the JBA on various topics regarding the legal profession.
