The Faculty of law/ University of Jordan participated in the National Seminar on Human trafficking

The University of Jordan had participated on Saturday, 27 Dec. 2014 in the first seminar held by the Jordanian Combating Modern Day Slavery and Human Trafficking (JCMST), which took place in cooperation with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Criminal Investigation Department /Anti-Human Trafficking Unit. The University of Jordan recently entered into an agreement with JCMST, and accordingly Dr. Lina Shabeeb , the head of the public law Department and the director of the Human Trafficking awareness legal clinic , held a session in the conference with a group of students Titled the 2009 law for combating Human Trafficking reality and aspirations , addressing the current laws on Human Trafficking and the need to revise them. The students of the Human Trafficking Awareness legal clinic has recently returned from a trip to Aqaba , which was quite fruitful and was highly appreciated by the high schools where HTALC students give several lectures on human trafficking and human rights in general , including children rights . The Legal clinics started in the school of the law / University of Jordan since 2009 with IRAP in Cooperation with IRAP/Yale in the U.S.; The first awareness lecture in human trafficking was delivered in 2010 by Emad Al-Gora'an, a young lawyer who works for an international NGO and who was a clinical student there. Students from HTALC have been and still are giving awareness lectures on human trafficking since 2010 in several high schools in different Governorates in Jordan .
